How to install an MCP server in Cursor IDE

1

Copy the config

Click Copy config on any server below to get the JSON snippet for Cursor's MCP settings file.

2

Open Cursor MCP settings

Go to Cursor → Settings → MCP and click "Add new global MCP server". This opens ~/.cursor/mcp.json.

3

Paste inside "mcpServers"

Paste the copied snippet inside the "mcpServers": {} block and save the file.

4

Reload Cursor

Press Cmd/Ctrl+Shift+P → "Reload Window", or restart Cursor. Your MCP server will appear in Composer and Agent mode.

Pro tip: For per-project MCP servers, add a .cursor/mcp.json file to your project root. Cursor merges it with your global config automatically.
