How it works

Data never leaves your machine

Embeddings run locally via Transformers.js. LanceDB stores vectors as files on disk. Nothing is sent to any cloud.

Drop PDFs, get answers in Claude

Drop documents into your vault folder. Private Counsel chunks, embeds, and indexes them automatically. Then ask Claude anything.

Runs on your hardware

Uses a 22MB embedding model that downloads once and runs offline forever. No GPU required.

Works with Claude & Cursor

Exposes a local MCP server on localhost:3742. Add one line to your Claude or Cursor config and it just works.

    Download and open the app

    Install the Private Counsel desktop app. Paste your license key from your dashboard.

    Drop your documents into the vault

    Private Counsel watches ~/Documents/PrivateCounsel/Vault/. Drop PDFs in — they are chunked, embedded, and indexed automatically.

    Add one line to Claude or Cursor

    "private-counsel": { "url": "http://localhost:3742/mcp" }

    That's it. Now ask Claude: “Search my documents for indemnification clauses.”
